Import your Google Maps Timeline

Google moved Timeline onto your phone in 2025 and deleted cloud copies that were not migrated. If you still have your data, this is how to get years of travel history into Raven in a minute. Nothing is uploaded; the file is read on your device.

1. Export from Google Maps (iPhone)

1. Open Google Maps, tap your profile picture → Your Timeline.
2. Tap ⋯ → Location & privacy settings → Export Timeline data.
3. Save the Timeline.json file to Files on your iPhone.

2. Older exports (Google Takeout)

Raven also reads the legacy Records.json and the Semantic Location History monthly files from Takeout. Unzip on your Mac or in Files and pick any of those JSON files.

3. Import into Raven

1. Raven → Settings → Import Google Timeline.
2. Pick the JSON file. Large files take a few seconds.
3. Open the Timeline tab: visits become days per country, and consecutive days become trips. Confirm or edit anything Raven marked as detected.
